English Professor Works with Death Row Inmates
Jill Patterson, an English professor at Texas Tech, recently received a fellowship from the Embrey Human Rights Program at Southern Methodist University to help her in her work as she advocates for impoverished Texas death row inmates.
Celebrating Arbor Day at Texas Tech
Continuing a tradition that began all the way back in 1938, students, staff and faculty planted 28,000 trees and shrubs for Arbor Day. Throughout campus, volunteers gave their green thumbs a bit of exercise as they collectively helped to make Texas Tech a lot greener.
Agriculture Professor Perfects Steak
In the future, as you enjoy a perfectly marbled slab of beef, you may have Agricultural Science professor Brad Johnson to thank. He’s an expert on the subject of skeletal muscle growth in cattle and he recently spearheaded a study on how to increase marbling without raising obese cattle.
